Initially the company was called “My Design Ours,” an attempt at a play on words with “ours” meaning bear in French. But after thinking about it, I realized that “Button & Plush” is much more appropriate for a company that seeks a primarily English-speaking customer base. I’ve been working on the company logo so that it expresses both the elegance and handmade nature of our products.

All of our Plushies started out as drawings. Each search for the final model of our “original” plush involved a lot of sketches, prototypes and testing. This pattern is now common to all plushies in the “originals” category. In addition to our robots and owls, other models such as the ninj’ours will be coming soon.

Starting your own business is truly a rewarding experience. First I had the idea and desire to get into the marketing of my own creations. Then there was the search for a model appropriate for me to produce in large numbers but with small variations. Determining the choice of fabrics was also an important and exciting step of my journey. I did not want to make toys with simple felt, but rather with high quality and hard to find fabrics. I then decided to go ahead and create the website myself and do my own research into aesthetic trends and standards in my search for a consistent logo and set of graphics. Any successful e-commerce business should have a strong presence on social networks, so I developed B&P on Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter. Check out this inspiring video. Now everything is ready to go and I am grateful to finally be bringing this project to completion. I hope my Plushies will soon experience the success they deserve.
